3 in 1 Last 3 matches from the ladies 3rds

So its been a while since I have been able to do any match reports but the win yesterday over Genesis has finally given me the motivation. That said I should probably mention the losing streak the ladies thirds seems to have been on for the last few weeks pretty much since the terrific draw to league leaders Avoca, we have lost every match. As our wise coach said yesterday some times the better team doesn't always win, so after 3 defeats one of which against Our Ladies last week, where we deservedly lost 3-0 and won't be mentioned again, we set off to play Genesis 6ths out in UCD yesterday.  This was a big match for us we needed to come away with points and although we had been playing well all season the results just hadn't been coming in. So after a good talking to by Coach Alice with her shinny new white board it was off to prove we could score and we could win.

So minus the amazing Nuala Gillick we had Niamh Aherne much to her dismay step into the role of sweeper and we also got to welcome Ali Maher back. The game started well and we were on the attack then came the start of the short corners some being well defended and one strike from Jo Maher going millimeters wide but then it finally came clean strike from Katie and that lovely noise of the back board being struck, happy days 1-0 to Glenanne. The first half however was not with out its controversy with some interesting decisions from the Genesis umpire getting some of us mainly me a bit irritated to put it mildly. But we managed to refrain from further comments and got on with it. First half ended with Glenanne up by a goal. So the second half Genesis stepped it up and the second half was more evenly matched they had some good chances which were well defended and we had some good chances  as well. Final whistle 1-0 to Glenanne, well done everyone a much needed 3 points moves us up the table. Man of the match went to Niamh Aherne who filled Nuala's shoes and managed to shout I think even louder that Nuala!!! A big thanks to Alan for umpiring division 10 can be quite contraversial, who'd have thought!!!
