Ladies 3rds V Loreto

Just goes to show anything can happen in division 10!!!

So the ladies thirds last week took on the division 10 leaders so this week they had the team at the bottom of the division, Loreto who had yet to get off the ground with 0 points. Things just wern't looking good for the girls from before the whistle even went, starting off with 13 players that dropped to 10 as Emma sustained an injury while moving sofas and then Orlagh had to be carried off the pitch during the seconds game with a nasty knee injury.  So those injuries  along with half the rest of the girls who had to go skiing, no skiing next year girls!!! left the thirds with 10 players one of whom was me who hasn't played all season and 3 of whom had just played an intensegame for the seconds, not good!!

But the show must go on and that it did and it must be said quite impressively, the Glens seemed to be coming up with some great hockey in the first half with some lovely passing and some great attacks but nothing seemed to be getting into the net, we even had a good few short corners but they just weren't working. Loreto had some good passages of play aswell one of them resulting in a goal leaving the half time score 1-0 to Loreto.

A good half time talk from coach Alice and some positional changes left us to start the second half, we may have been 1-0 down but again the attack on the Loreto goal commenced with again nothing getting through, the game was fairly even though with Loreto making some good attacks again with one of them slipping past, I swear I think my stick has a hole in it!!!

Final whistle score 2-0 to Loreto, well done to the Loreto team they took their chances and  converted them and although we played amazing we just couldn't convert. But well done to everyone on the thirds no one gave up out there and everyone gave it their all, Dee Lunny who had 2 brilliant games one for the seconds and then the thirds was player of the match and well deserved she was everywhere. Another special mention must go to Niamh Mc Carthy who also had a great game weaving through the Loerto defence like they wern't there, don't worry Niamh the goals are coming, next week I can see them all now!!

Hope to see you all at the quiz on Tuesday.
