Ladies 3rds V Avoca

Ladies 3rds take on League Leaders

Well it was revenge time for the Ladies 3rds as they took on the Avoca team who had beaten them 4-0 at the start of the season, and who are currently lying first in the Division 10 league. The game got underway with some interesting decisions from the Avoca umpire making the side line a very entertaining area! But that did not stop the action on the pitch with Gemma Fay and Lucy Harrison working really well together down the right hand side of the pitch and really getting the better of the Avoca side on numerous occasions but the Avoca defence were solid. Karen Mc Loughlin made her defending debut at centre back and proved that although a great attacker the girl can also defend, and defend she did along with the rest of the defence as the Avoca side attacked. The start of the second half it was 0-0, so the Avoca girls came out all fired up, but the Glenanne girls kept their heads and not only defended brilliantly but made some terriffic attacks. Final whistle left the game 0-0 which seemed a fair result, although I'm not sure Avoca would agree. A big thanks to Kate O'Connor for umpiring and also to Niamh Aherne who came straight from the airport to the pitch - now that is dedication for you!  Woman of the match had to go to Catherine who got another clean sheet and made some amazing saves throughout the game, goes to show some people just don't lose it.  Well done girls everyone played brilliant and it was a well deserved 1 point.
