Ladies 2nds draw with Bray

Glenanne Ladies 2nds get a well deserved draw in Bray.

It was a very good game on a mild afternoon in Bray last Saturday. The
scene was set for Glenanne with a new enthuastic stand-in captain, Ali
driving the warm-up and both Nuala and Audrey McCormack doing the line.
There were several excellent performances from quite a few players
including Maolisa, Orla, Ali and Deirb. Glenanne looked the better side
through most of the first half however a scoreline of 1-0 at half time
was not sufficient to secure the game. The goal was a direct strike on a
short corner which Jane firmly planted in the net. Bray though never
gave up and came close on several occasions particularly with their
number 13.

After a few minutes and a good team chat at half time, changes were made
and play resumed. Glenanne had very good ball play however did not
capitalise on their possession. Bray then capitalised on an opportunity
to level the game, then lifted their game and came looking for victory
and scored. All of a sudden Glenanne were 2-1 down and everyone stepped
up their game. Glenanne were rewarded with a free on the right hand side
which came to Paula who sent it to the top of the circle and Deirb
running from right to left collected it and took a few more paces to the
left, drawing both players before reverse flicking it to the right for
Orla to take a cracking shot and put it in the right hand corner. So
Glenanne came away relieved with a 2-2 draw however probably a bit
disappointed that the concentration did not last for the whole 60
minutes to have secured a victory.
