Glens will meet YM on St Stephens Day

Glens qualify for Neville Cup final

 

 

Glenanne qualified for the final of the Neville Cup on St Stephen’s Day with a penalty shoot out victory over Railway Union in Sandymount. The game finished 3-3 after extra time.  Glens led 1-0 at half time thru ShaneO. Railway equalised in the first minute of the second half. But O’Donoghue scored his second mid way through the half. The home team equalised late on to bring the game into extra time. A fine passing movement culminated in Johnny Kane putting the Glens in front. Then with seconds left to silver goal RU drew level. There was no further goals but a Railway player was badly injured.  Joe Brennan, David Shaw, Gary Shaw and ShaneO converted in the stroke competition and RU had a wide and a fine Doran save. In the other semi final across the fields at the stadium of light YM beat Rovers 4-1. Rovers team was made up of seconds and thirds. The firsts were training for a very important match in Tallaght at the weekend. So Glens will play Y on St. Stephens day in Pembroke.
