A new phenomenom has hit the hockey world and the people have come in their droves to see it

Remember November 5th as a landmark day. The day that the Fox in the Box finally got the appreciation he deserves. On Thursday, Eddie 'The Fox in the Box' O'Malley reached the 100 mark for subscribed fans (join at http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=175969054248&ref=ts)

The ellusive forward has hit the hockey headlines in recent weeks with his new nickname. When you think of O'Malley, you think illusiveness and instintive finishing. But where did the nickname start? Well, at 12.33pm October 16, 2009 to be precise when the following comment appeared on the Leinter Hockey Blog 'The Hook' in regard to Glens forward corpse:

"Don't know about better forwards, Glens have two Ireland A in Kane and O'Donoghue, 150 capped Shaw, Goulding with plenty of Inter Pro goals and O'Malley is a proven fox in the box!"

From there the moniker has snowballed, culminating in the creation of the Fox's very own Facebook page (thanks to David Shaw). The Page was created last Sunday evening after 'The Fox' had scored a typically clinical hatrick against Clontarf. 5 days later and over 100 people have jumped on the bandwagon, including members from UCD, YMCA, Railway Union, Pembroke Wanderers, Weston, Corinthians and Fingal. Anyone who appreciates hockey would appreaciate the brilliance of 'The Fox'.

The statistics give reason to the huge fan base on further examination. Firstly, 100 per cent of 'The Fox's' goals this season (7 in total) have come inside the circle. The Fox has also shown how capable he is in being the leader of the pack by scoring a hatrick and leading Glens to a five goal victory on his first appearance as captain of the first team last weekend.

So where to next? 'The Fox' is rumoured to be just as illusive off the pitch and has refused to do any interviews. A close friend stated that "The Fox is too busy scoring goals". Fair enough then. Rumours have abounded that the famous Glenanne faction have plans to involve 'The Fox' in their latest plans ahead of the opening IHL tie on December 5th after their succesful 'Parsons Pirates' exploits.
