Ladies 3rds v Corinthians Match Report 07/01/2012
OK first match report of hopefully not too many from the side lines…..its cold there and actually hard to remember what happened but here we go. So this was the thirds last match of the first half of the season and as coach Paul said it would be nice to finish the first half on a nice round number 22!!!! For the first game this season the Niamh balance was off with only one Niamh on the pitch and there was a lot of positional changes, with Fiona taking over at centre back and Holly, Amy and Niamh Mc taking up the midfield. The game started off pretty even with both teams making some good attacking plays, as manager Dee said you could see what Christmas can do to a team lots of cob webs were quickly flying off. Althought the Glens had some good attacks in the first half the score remained 0-0 at half time. The second half started with Lucy taking up the role of centre mid and playing her socks off with some great runs. It was a long while comming but finally a terrific run by lucy and some great passing with Niamh Mc the ball got into the D and passed out to Sinead who made no mistake in making it goal one to Glens, it wasnt long after that Eimear, Niamh , Lucy and Sinead did the same thing and Sinead who has always gets herself into the best spots fired it for goal number 2. The girls then were seeming to let the Corinthians back into it and they got themselves a short corner which resulted in a goal, score 2-1. This seemed to kick the girls into shape and the last 7 minutes the score remained the same. Final score 2-1 to the Glens both goals by Sinead, man of the match went to Lucy whos workrate out there was superb seconded only to Niamh Mc. I have to say girls it wasn’t as stressfull as I thought it was going to be, now I’m thinking next week with a whilstle will be a differnt story eekkkkk
