Ladies 3rds v Genesis 3/12/2011

Another top of the table clash for the thirds on a freezing morning in Glenanne. We always knew this would be a tough match with Genesis having some very skilled players. The glens started with possession and Gemma bee lined down the pitch towards the Genesis goal, the first half saw some great attacks from the Glens really testing the Genesis keeper, who made some great saves keeping the score 0-0 at half time. The second half started out a much more physical affair with Genesis really pushing the Glens and getting in some good attacks. Finally from a side line ball inside the 25, dribbled the 5 yards and then passed into the circle to Sinead and across the goal to Niamh Mc reverse stick…….and finally a goal its the longest we have had to wait in a few matches, but the score was 1-0 to the Glens. The match continued at a fast pace with some good attacks from both sides but the Glens managed to keep their goal safe. Final whistle 1-0 to Glenanne leaving the girls finishing the first half of the season with 19 points and top of division 10.

Next week its the second round of the division 9/10 cup for the girls with a 1.30 start in Old Alex.
