Ladies 3rds v Our Lady’s 26/11/11
This match for most of us was one that we figured was going to be tough, for me it brought back memories of having to go in goals 2 seasons ago and letting 4 in…….disaster. So most of us were feeling the fear especially as Our Lady’s were currently leading Division 10, however not Sinead Ahern who before the match informed me she had only played them once and we had won so with that positive mind frame we started the match. It wasn’t long before we were up in the Our Lady’s circle and got our first short corner, ball out to Sinead who belted it in and still not sure how but I got my stick to it to deflect it in goal 1 for Glenanne. The next one came shortly after with some brilllant passing through the midfiled for Niamh Mc to this time take goal number 2. Then it was Lucys turn, who had decieded after last weeks no scoring she had to make ammends, so after around 15 minutes it was 3-0 to Glenanne. Our Ladies however wern’t about to give up and a good work up through our defence saw them sneak one past. But it wasn’t long before the Glens got goal number 4 this time from Sinead. Then the Glens started bringing in the changes with our full bench, then we got goal number 5 from some great work up the mid field by Gemma who pased to Lucy back to Gemma back to Lucy, they did this a few times just outside the D and then pass into Sinead and first half over 5-1 to the Glens.
The second half was a bit more of an evenly matched affair with Catherine Kennedy making some superb saves managing to keep Our Ladies to 1 goal. The Glens showed how to work the ball out of defence with Katie sending some great passes up to Lucy and Sinead who both got one a piece in the second half. Well done to Ann who had her first game with the senior Ladies and also to Lucy who played amazing. Not sure what else to say 2 matches with 15 goals well done girls long may it continue. Also a big thanks to Jane who umpired for us and the girls who didnt get to play but came out and supported anyway.
