Ladies 1sts V Three Rock Saturday 15th Oct

Tough result

Three rock ladies promoted to division 1 this season met the Glens ladies for the first time on their home turf. Conditions were less than desirable with the pitch being water logged and extremely slippery in the corners, and with a start time of 5pm things were tough from the get go. The glens were missing Kitty Murray due to work commitments and Mary Waldron due to injury, regardless of two such influential players unavailable the Glens would still fancy their chances for 3 points going into this tie. The unknown factor of Three rock had the Glens notably nervous in the opening minutes of this game, however with Three rock playing a very defensive game the Glens managed to gain some confidence by maintaining the majority of possession in this game. Once again failing to capitilise on their dominance the glens couldnt find the goal from play or through their short corner routine which was hampered by the condition of the pitch.

Neither team could break the deadlock in a physically tough game that saw sin binning’s for both teams. The glens could rightly berate themselves for missing this opportunity to gain 3 points from a match they dominated. A fine perfromance from Audrey McCormack in the centre mid role saw Three rocks major threat shut down, Rebecca O`Rielly once again putting in a solid performance, with some scintillating interjections from the ever dynamic Claire Shillington. Debuting in right back, Chantelle Zietsman had a solid performance looked comfortable in the back four.
