Ladies 1st’s v Hermes Match Report 22/10/2011

Outclassed at home

The ladies have been waiting on a big performance and this home match up against Hermes felt like it may just have been the one. Unfortunately the well known heart and fire of the glens deserted them on the day. What ensued in Glenanne Park was a disjointed, lacklustre and disappointing performance from the home team. The first half was relatively tight with Hermes capitilising on two mistakes to go two goals up. The starting line up for the glens saw a few changes which were required to be made after two of the Glens stalwart players started on the sidelines due to illness. This saw Aoife Dalton moving into the back four as centre back and Kate O Connor back in the starting line up for the first time this season as sweeper. Regular starting defender Kitty Murray moving into the massive hole left by Audrey McCormack at centre mid.

The second half saw any positives taken from Glenannes first half performance disintegrate and things just went from decent to bad for the Glens. Credit must be given to some super play from Hermes midfield and forwards all of whom seemed to find acres of space around them. The game ended 5-0 to a dynamic Hermes squad who deserved the scoreline. The Glens will be looking to improve on this performance with a free weekend to gather themselves.
