Match Report: vs Three Rock Rovers

Glenanne moved back to the top of the Leinster League with a tough win over Three Rock Rovers in Glennane Park

Unable to convert many of their clear cut chances in the first quarter, Glennane finally took the lead after 25 minutes, Stephen Brownlow deflecting high into the goal after great work down the left from brothers Gary and Richie Shaw.

Three corners went unconverted in the first half and TRR made Glennane pay for this immediately after half time when a goal mouth scramble was finally converted by Alan White after David Shaw blocked two initial efforts on the line.

Glenanne dominated possession and territory but were unable to convert this into goals and TRR were a constant threat on the break. The deadlock was finally broken after 55 minutes, Shane O’Donoghue collecting an overhead and squaring to Gary Shaw to finish.

And after some scary moments in the last 10 from crash balls into the Glennane circle they finally sealed the win, Richie Shaw winning the ball in a high press and sliding in Brownlow to convert his second of the night. Glenanne are now ahead of YMCA on goal difference and have a game in hand.

Final Score: Glenanne 3 – Three Rock Rovers 1

Next up for the Mens Firsts is Annadale in Lough Moss on Sunday at 1.00 on the IHL.
