Match Report: vs Railway (Men’s Division 1)
Glenanne Mens Firsts secured a comprehensive victory over 5th placed Railway on Tuesday night in Sandymount.
Glenanne got off to the perfect start, Shane O’Donoghue firing home a drag flick within 5 minutes.
They doubled their lead 2 minutes later when Gary Shaw latched on to a quick free out from Joe Brennan, beat the last defender and squared to Eddie O’Malley who slid home.
It was 3-0 after 10 minutes when O’Donoghue dragged home his second go the night. The rest of the half was played out with Railway sitting half court and Glennane dominating possession but unable to add to their tally.
Shortly after the break it was 4-0, a flowing team move saw Brennan and O’Malley exchange passes to set up O’Donoghue who drilled home to complete his hatrick.
The game then opened up with Railway looking for a consolation but Glennane were the ones to score again, Fred v.d. Weij getting on the end of a slick move starting in the left back position and finishing superbly.
Next up for Mens Firsts is UCD at home on Saturday in the League.
