Match Report: vs Corinthian (Mills Cup Semi Final)
Glenanne v Corinthians – 2-0
Glennane reached the final of the Mills Cup for the first time since 2008 after a cagey 2-0 victory yesterday at Grange Road.
The first half was short on opportunities, Gary Shaw and Jonathan Kane could not convert half chances in the first 10 minutes. A Glenanne corner was charged down well before Eddie O’Malley took a drag flick off the line from Corinthian’s only corner of the first half.
The second half saw things open up more, Stephen Doran saving well from two Corinthian’s corners before Shane O’Donoghue broke the deadlock with 10 minutes to go. Graham Shaw skipped by 2 challenges to square to Stephen Brownlow who’s first time shot was well saved by the Corinthians keeper but O’Donoghue snapped up the rebound.
Stephen Brownlow was the creator of the second five minutes later, robbing the Corinthian’s defender and laying on for Gary Shaw whose shot on the turn was too powerful and the Corinthian’s keeper could only parry it into the goal.
The win sees Glenanne advance to the Final on St. Patrick’s Day to play the winners of Monkstown v Pembroke.
Next up for the Men’s Firsts is a return to Grange Road to face Three Rocks Rovers in the Leinster League.
