Glenanne Ladies 3rds V UCD

On a very icy Saturday evening, the ladies 3rds took on UCD. Needless to say, after a very long break, the girls were not looking forward to this. However, the game got off to a great start with Niamh McCarthy making some great runs at the goal. Her efforts paid off after about ten minutes and it was 1-0 to the Glens. Not happy with one goal, Niamh went straight back at it and came away with another. In the mean time, even though they were down players, UCD had some good chances. The Glens defence stood strong, and held them to no goals. It was then the turn of Aisling Hogan to take on the gaolie. After a great solo effort down the pitch, her first strike was saved but Aisling, hungry for her first goal, caught the rebound and delivered it into the net. Score 3-0 to Glenanne. The second half saw UCD come back into the game but the Glenanne defence managed to keep the score line at 3-0. A big thank you to Caroline, Catherine, Aisling, Aoife and Dee for playing despite the Baltic conditions. Also thanks to Rhys for umpiring.
