Ladies 3rds V Bray, 09/10/2010

Second game of the division 10 league for the ladies 3rds saw them play Bray at home. This was going to prove a tough game especially since 6 of us had already played a game. Much to my dismay I was put playing right mid, think this was my punishment for taking a 5 week holiday! Anyway the Glens got off to a great start with some good passages of play down the right wing, some great passing between Dee and Amy kept the Bray defence on their toes. The goal finally came from Lucy who got a lovely touch on a terrific pass by me into the circle, to the astounded Dee Leonard who told me she would make a right mid out of me yet! Feeling like my work was done and seeing as I could no longer move and after falling on my face twice much to my team mates amusement, Niamh Aherne relieved me in the mid and I got a rest at centre back. The first half finished 1-0 to Glenanne. The second half was not as convincing as the first with most of us feeling a bit tired, so goalie Emma was made work for her clean sheet. We somehow managed to keep Bray out down to the final whistle. A well deserved 1-0 win. Well done to all the girls, especially those who had played 2 matches, the second with no subs, so no rest. Also a big thanks to Emma Healy who helped us out in goals and David Williamson who umpired for us. Man of the match goes to Amy who had not 1, but 2 terrific games on Saturday.
